Introduction
West Horsley Parish Council is delighted to launch its 2026 Awards for Service to the Community scheme to recognise individuals, groups and local organisations who have done exceptional work in our community, improving the lives of others, and fostering good relationships. The awards aim to recognise and encourage positive community working within the Parish of West Horsley.

Guidelines
The WHPC Awards for Service to the Community recognise people and organisations who have gone above and beyond to serve the community of West Horsley, and who have made a significant improvement to the lives of our parish residents. The awards:
- Are given to recognise individuals, groups or organisations who have gone above and beyond to serve the community. We are looking for people who have made an outstanding contribution to life in West Horsley.
- Are given to recognise people who live or work in the parish, organisations that are based and operate within the parish, and individuals/organisations that serve the residents of West Horsley.
- Can be awarded for paid or unpaid (voluntary) work. If you do nominate someone for paid work, you must demonstrate how they have gone above and beyond what is typically expected from their job role,
- Cannot be presented to a serving member of a Parish, Borough or County Council.
How to Nominate
Nominations will open online on Monday 9 February 2026. All entries must be received by 9am on Monday 16 March 2026.

Presentation Evening
All nominees will be invited to the inaugural awards presentation evening on Thursday 23 April 2026 in The Stone Hall, West Horsley Place.
Judging Criteria
Our judging panel will give equal consideration to all nominations and will base any decisions on evidence that:
- The level of service is over and above what might be normally expected and maintained over a period of time
- The individual, group or organisation has been innovative in what they have done/do. What has been done differently? How has this made a positive difference to the work done as the consequence to the community?
- The impact they has made in/for the community, and to what positive outcome?
- The contribution has been sustained over a long period of time to good effect. Evidence of dedication to the role.

If you know someone who would like to submit a nomination but is unable to access the online form, please print the below document for them and ask them to complete and return to us before the deadline. The forms can either hand delivered to the Parish Council's mailbox at the Village Hall (located by the Fire Exit doors between the Main Hall and the Cedar Room) or posted to us at: Awards Nominations, West Horsley Parish Council, 99 The Street, West Horsley KT24 6DD.
