Calling All Young Horsley Artists & Photographers

'The World Around Us' Art and Photography Competition 

West Horsley Youth Council, in association with The Arts Society Horsley Lovelace, invites you to enter a new Art & Photography Competition this Spring. Entry is now open. Horsley residents aged 11 to 18 years are welcome to submit an entry into either or both of the two categories:

1. Photography (manipulated or original)
2. 2D visual art

Deadline for submissions: 12pm, Wed 13 May

Any creative interpretation of our theme The World Around Us is welcome. This could be community and environment in the Horsleys, urban or rural landscapes, people, climate change, wildlife...

A judging panel will consider all entries equally. The panel will consist of:

• Cllr E Best, Chairman, West Horsley Parish Council
• Christina Ward, The Arts Society Horsley Lovelace Ambassador
• Sarah Rawlins, local abstract artist
• Matt Link, local photographer

Selected works will be exhibited in the Barn at West Horsley Place, on Sunday 31 May when the Youth Council holds its annual Horsley Hustle Fun Run.

The judging panel will select a winner and runner up for each of the Art and Photography categories.

Winners will receive:

• £75 cash prize
• The opportunity to receive their prize in person, from a Guest of Honour during the Horsley Hustle Fun Run awards ceremony on Sunday 31 May.
• A certificate from West Horsley Parish Council acknowledging their achievement
• The opportunity to develop their portfolio, by photographing a Parish/Youth Council event or having their work featured in the West Horsley Parish Council Newsletter distributed to all residents.

Runners up will receive:

• £50 cash prize
• The opportunity to receive their prize in person, from a Guest of Honour during the Horsley Hustle Fun Run awards ceremony on Sunday 31 May.
• A certificate from West Horsley Parish Council acknowledging their achievement.

Please complete the entry form and email it with you photographic entry to clerk@westhorsley-pc.gov.uk. 

All entries must be submitted in JPEG format (i.e. your photograph, or a photograph of your 2-D artwork, by noon on Wednesday 13 May. 

Entries cannot be submitted in person; we have no means by which to receive them. If your entry is selected for display at West Horsley Place, you will be contacted separately to arrange those logistics.
