Residents are being asked for their views on plans for the reorganisation of councils in Surrey as part of a government consultation. This is the most significant change to local government in Surrey for 50 years and it is important for Surrey residents to have their say.
West Horsley Parish Council invites you to a Community Forum on Local Government Reorganisation in Surrey at 7.30pm on Thursday 17 July 2025 at West Horsley Village Hall.
The aim of the Community Forum is to inform residents about the consultation and to encourage as many as possible to participate. The event is free to attend but places should be booked in advance via our events box office at www.ticketsource.co.uk/westhorsleypc.
During the event our speakers will:
- explain what Local Government Reorganisation means for Surrey residents
- clarify the proposed timeline for the implementation of unitaries in Surrey
- give an unbiased summary of each proposal, setting out the pros and cons for both two and three unitaries
- discuss the 'elephant in the room' i.e. what the Government plans to do about Woking Borough Council's debt
- explain how to respond to the consultation
- take questions from the floor (to be submitted in advance)
